You’ve finally got the matching set of china of your dreams, complete with teacups, saucers and matching teapot! Except now you’ve just noticed one of the teacups has a broken handle. What do you do? Grab some porcelain glue! Loctite Super Glue Liquid Universal, for example, is a great adhesive for porcelain repairs! And so are Loctite Super Glue Liquid Precision and Loctite Super Glue Liquid Control.
Porcelain glue is ideal for repairing broken porcelain items such as ornaments, decorative plates etc. Note that the adhesives cannot be used to repair items that will be in contact with food or drink.
Fixing porcelain items is easier than you might think. As long as the pieces aren’t too small, you have a great chance of restoring your favourite pieces to their former glory. Here’s how:
- Gather any broken bits and pieces on a clean and level surface. Next, use a damp cloth to clean the pieces individually and remove any dust.
- Ensure all items to be bonded are close fitting.
- Apply your chosen porcelain repair glue to one of the pieces of porcelain or ceramic that you want to repair. Apply adhesive sparingly over one surface and then press the two pieces together for about 30 seconds.
- Be sure to use only a tiny amount of glue. Remove any excess adhesive immediately with acetone (nail polish remover) or Loctite Super Glue Remover.
If you need to repair vertical items, then you can use a super glue gel. However, please note that the pieces to be bonded must fit together closely . Loctite’s Super Glue Power Gel is a great porcelain glue for all kinds of repairs involving pottery, ceramic and porcelain.
Porcelain glue will fix broken, fragile pieces of porcelain, china and ceramic. So, whether you’ve broken the handle off your mug, smashed a plate, or dropped a ceramic vase, a strong, shock-resistant super glue will do the trick.
Loctite’s Super Glue Power Gel is a fantastic glue for porcelain. This rubber-infused gel super glue can form powerful, precise and invisible bonds between porcelain and other surfaces and can even be applied vertically thanks to its non-drip formula. It’s ideal for use on smaller fractures, as it has a precise nozzle that can get into small spaces. It’s also great for repairs on bigger porcelain objects too, as it can withstand heavy loads.
