If you’re wondering which adhesive to use, why not try all-purpose glue? A high quality product like Loctite all-purpose adhesive can be used for just about any job. Find out why this adhesive could be the glue for you.

The many uses of all-purpose glue

Some DIY jobs require a specific adhesive – one specially adapted for tricky plastics like polypropylene, for example, or an adhesive that can withstand extreme temperatures. However, for the vast majority of projects, one glue will do.

All-purpose adhesives are popular with both homeowners and professionals because of their unique versatility. A single bottle of Loctite all-purpose adhesive can be used for an astonishing variety of jobs, from fixing your children’s toys to repairing parts of your car. When you’re pressed for time and need to carry out a variety of repairs, all-purpose glue is the perfect solution, saving you time and money.

How to use all-purpose glue

To get the best results with multi-purpose adhesive, follow these simple steps. Remember to take the usual safety precautions, like wearing gloves to protect your skin and working in a well-ventilated room.

  1. Prepare the surfaces. The surfaces of the materials you want to bond should be completely clean and dry. Lightly sanding smooth or glossy surfaces can help to improve adhesion. If you’re working with two non-porous surfaces, try dampening them for better bonding.
  2. Pre-fit materials. Make sure everything is perfectly aligned before you start gluing.
  3. Apply the all-purpose adhesive. Apply a thin layer of glue onto one surface and then press the two surfaces together, or keep them clamped together. Check the product instructions for cure time, and avoid using the object until the glue has cured completely.
  4. Clean. Remove any excess glue quickly before it dries using a cotton bud or cloth soaked in acetone. Dried glue can be scraped off with a hard edge, and then removed with acetone if necessary.

A bottle of all-purpose adhesive will last for years with proper storage. Always replace the cap firmly and store the bottle in a cool, dry place.
