Wondering how to stick two wooden surfaces together? PVA wood glue is the answer! With this handy wood glue, there’s no need for traditional carpentry tools like nails.

Which wood glue to use?

Firstly, you may be wondering: what is PVA glue? This strong glue comes from polyvinyl acetate and is the most commonly used wood adhesive for DIY projects; it’s also known as “carpenter’s glue”. PVA glue is the best wood glue if you’re looking for an easy-to-use adhesive that dries quickly, is colourless and odourless, and which can be used for both interior and exterior projects.

Hide glue is created from a protein molecule and typically comes in liquid or granule form. It creates extremely strong bonds and can be used for a wide variety of projects. However, it’s not waterproof.

Epoxies are easy to apply, water resistant, and can be sanded or drilled afterwards. They’re great for repairing wood and filling in cracks, but they take a while to dry.

Loctite Super Glue Liquid Universal is an extremely strong, waterproof and temperature resistant adhesive that can be used on a variety of materials, including wood. It’s the perfect choice if you need a strong and resistant wood glue.

Are you looking for a food safe wood glue? Make sure you check the instructions first. PVA wood glue isn’t suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food.

How to use PVA glue

PVA glue and other wood adhesives are simple to use. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Apply the PVA glue to the surfaces you want to bond. If you spill any glue, wipe it with a cloth.
  2. Spread the glue with a brush. Aim to create a thin, even coat.
  3. Press the surfaces together. Use a G-clamp to keep the pieces in place.
  4. Wait for the glue to dry. Cure time varies, so check the product instructions.
  5. Sand off excess glue if necessary.

Loctite 60 Sec. All-Purpose Glue is ideal for a quick job, as it creates strong bonds in a minute.
